BLIND GUARDIAN - Marcus Siepen
Marcus Siepen, guitar player of BLIND GUARDIAN, gave a LIVE interview on Monday July 26th to Kostas Purevil Kyriakakis and Helena Mihailidou on Metalzone Radio show, broad casted weekly on 94fm in Athens Greece.
\r\n
\r\nMarcus talked about the upcoming BLIND GUARDIAN album At The Edge Of Time which is a dream come true for the band as they worked with a 90 people orchestra for the first time instead of using keyboards for the orchestral parts. As he describes the new album “captures the true feeling of what Blind Guardian are all about” as it includes old school thrash elements, epic, progressive, orchestral and also some new elements which are definitive ingredients of their music.
\r\n
\r\nHe explains that they have no master plan in writing music and so even though they don’t write simple catchy hits as they did back in Nightfall in middle earth, they have managed to capture the energy, the focused and energetic elements of their previous tour in their new release and so the result is as it is.
\r\n
\r\nMarcus explains how the band is gonna have 6 new songs ready for their upcoming tour and play 3 to 4 songs in each show in order to keep the balance between classic hits, new songs and old songs they haven’t played live in a long time. They will be touring all the upcoming winter, firstly in Europe, then USA, Canada. Have a break for Xmas, then back to Europe and after wards probably Japan, Australia, South Africa... till the end of 2011.
\r\n
\r\nHe states he feels proud to have been around for 22 years with Blind Guardian and even though time has passed and they have evolved as musicians they still have the same attitude towards their making music, which is to continue making good music, the music they like and have in his life the process of creating a song from the original idea to the final result which he describes it to be magical.
\r\n
\r\nMarcus also talks about how it would have been had they been involved in the Lord Of The Rings soundtrack, and the making of the soundtrack for the video game Sacred.
\r\n
\r\nAfter the end of the interview you can listen to part of all the songs in the album At The Edge Of Time which will be out on July 30th in Europe, August 24th in the US by Nuclear Blast, and Marcus claims to be the best BLIND GUARDIAN album so far.
