CREMATORY
\r\nM.Z. First of all i’d like to congratulate you on the new album, how is it
\r\ngoing until now?
\r\n
\r\nThank you. Untill now it is going very well. As we expected it is beeing sold perfectly. As we have three different styles of the album you can choose if you want a jewel-case, a dige-pack or a limited edition box that contains a digi-pack, a limited edition t-shirt, a poster, a patch, a sticker and a postcard.
\r\nWhat does a fan need more except of watching us live on stage? :-)
\r\n
\r\nM.Z. I think that "Infinity" has a more, i dare to say, "Industrial" touch
\r\ncompared to "Pray" which was more melodic, what’s your opinion?
\r\n
\r\nINFINITY is the evolution of PRAY. The target-settings were: faster, louder, darker, harder as before. That’s what we planned and finally did. You’ll find two harder and faster songs as well as the well known catchy songs on the album. There are also two songs with german lyrics and two ballads on „INFINITY”, as well as a great cover-version of Depeche Mode’s masterwork „Black Celebration“. The album “INFINITY” is definitely an album for infinity!
\r\n
\r\nM.Z. Sounds like Matthias Hechler has more space on the vocals on "Infinity",
\r\ndid that happen on purpose or is it just how it came out?
\r\n
\r\nWe have always developed our style and it is one of the steps forward we have made with INFINITY. From album to album he has got mor vocal-parts and I think it was a perfect decission. It also fits prfect to the songs. It ist a kind of vocal fight between angel and devil.
\r\n
\r\nM.Z. Seems that the current line up is working very well so far or is it my
\r\nidea?
\r\n
\r\nThe lineup hasn’t changed since Lotte our ex-guitarist left the band. We fit together like a perfect family. And to be honest we are kind of a big family. We love to be together especially to be creative and compose new songs.
\r\n
\r\nM.Z. After the legendary "Believe" we notice a more gothic approach on
\r\nCrematory’s music following a series of very good albums. is there a secret
\r\nrecipe in composing dark songs with catchy melodies?
\r\n
\r\nI guess it is the special CREMATORY-style that makes it possible to create dark music with catchy songs. And as we keep on developing it is always a pleasure to record our new ideas and composings. We don’t want to record always the same stuff because we are afraid of loosing our roots. We step forward keeping our roots.
\r\n
\r\nM.Z. There are people out there claiming that Crematory have a distinctive
\r\nsound, something very difficult for a band to achieve, what do you say to
\r\nthem?
\r\n
\r\nThanks for this compliment. When we started we wanted to create something new, something unheard until then. Thats why we have the style we have and it is an honour to read and hear that we have a distinctive sound. This makes us very proud.
\r\n
\r\nM.Z. you are in the scene for almost 20 years now having gone under lots of
\r\nchanges, how was music then and how it is now?
\r\n
\r\nThe music scene has changed a lot in two decades. There are a lot of brilliant changes but there is one negative change that makes me very angry. The illegal downloads are the worst that could happen to musicians. The so called „fans“ who download music illegal are thieves. They steal money that belongs to the bands. Many more bands could make their lives out of music if the downloads would be stopped. And bigger bands could make many more concerts if they would get the money they loose because of the illegal downloads.
\r\n
\r\nM.Z. Thank you very much for the interview. last words are yours.
\r\nIn February 2011 we will release a greatest hits CD and DVD that will contain a lot of specials and unreleased stuff. We are also planning a huge tour that will accompany it. This year we will be at several big festivals, as well as on a couple of smaller ones, as well as on a few club-shows.
\r\nWe hope to see all our fans on these concerts and we need to thank them, because a band only gets as big as its fans allow it. Thanks to the best fans of the world!\r\n
