Legendary thrashers Dark Angel have teased an “Extinction Level Event”. The title track from their upcoming album is slated for release on April 11. The cover art for the album is featured in the teaser video and is pictured above.
Extinction Level Event will be released through Reversed Records is the band’s first album since 1991’s Time Does Not Heal that featured “9 songs, 67 minutes, 246 riffs!”
The current Dark Angel lineup features Ron Rinehart on vocals, Eric Meyer on guitars, Laura Christine on guitars, Mike Gonzalez on bass, and Gene Hoglan on drums.
PowerOfMetal.cl had the opportunity to film Dark Angel’s performance at Metal Beer Open Air, held on March 23 in Santiago, Chile.
The set included brand new songs, “Circular Firing Squad” and “Extinction Level Event”, both of which they captured on film. Watch below:
The festival also featured international acts such as Sodom and Atreyu, making it one of the most powerful metal gatherings in the region this year.
PowerOfMetal.cl spoke with Gene Hoglan ahead of Dark Angel’s performance at Metal Beer Open Air Fest.
During the conversation, Gene revealed that Dark Angel would be premiering new songs during their Latin American tour, and that he doesn’t rule out releasing something new this year. He also shared insights on the differences between playing in Dark Angel versus his other projects, and spoke about one of his biggest motivations for continuing in music: seeing people happy through his drumming.
