King Diamond took to social media to reveal that he is working on lyrics for his band's upcoming new album, titled The Institute. The album is expected before year's end via Metal Blade Records.

British heavy metal legends, Saxon, have released the third single, "The Pilgrimage", from their upcoming album, Carpe Diem, out Friday, February 4, via Silver Lining Music.
“Pilgrimage is a fantastic word,” says Biff Byford, “People go on pilgrimages all the time, not just in a historical or religious sense, but it’s about going and visiting either a place that you feel is special in your life or somebody that’s meant something in your life.
German thrash metal veterans, Destruction, celebrate their 40th anniversary by setting the world ablaze with a new, hard-hitting grenade in the form of their new album, Diabolical, out April 8 via Napalm Records.

Megaforce Records co-founder Jon Zazula has died at the age of 69. Variety reports Jon died in Florida surrounded by his brother, daughters, granddaughters, and friends.
Jon’s wife, Marsha Zazuala, died from cancer in January 2021 at the age of 68.
