Omega Massif is a sludge, post-metal band from Würzburg, Germany, widely known to the fans of sludge for their particular style and the intensity of their music.
\r\n
\r\nKarpatia, a result of two years of songwriting, is their second album, and I could say we have to do with "the next chapter of the same fairytale book" as it keeps from the first one,
Geisterstadt, the muddy sound and the slight sense of foggy memories.
\r\n
\r\nIn the songs there are transitions between melodic and heavy parts as well as slow and fast tempo. The tracks are instrumental but this absence of lyrics in combination with the dark psychedelic riffs lets the music give birth to larger variation of feelings. Personally, listening to the album I had the impression that Omega Massif wanted to confess to their audience the recall of a distant past that will never come again. Sometimes, the distortion is so heavy, as in "Im Karst", that the rest of the instruments seem to be drown in it. All these contribute to a great sensation of loss of brains.

\r\nOmega Massif’s music with its very special style is a matter of controversy: the sound could taste dull to some people but for the most of lovers of this kind of music is just a piece of magic. Karpatia is an extraordinary and mind-blowing album and with tracks as "Wölfe " and "Im Karst" which made me press the replay button again and again, gave me an additional reason to want to experience Omega Massif live.
